Student Lectures held at GSI during spring 2002
by Volker Koch (GSI & LBL Berkeley):
Introduction to Chiral Symmetry
The lectures addresses Diploma-, PhD-students and scientists interested
in the properties of hadrons in dense matter. It concentrates on the
aspects of Chiral Symmetry, both, in the context of hadronic matter and
QCD at finite densities and temperatures.
A list of topics to be covered:
- Phenomenology of Chiral Symmetry
- Symmetry breaking: spontaneous, dynamical and explicit
- Chiral perturbation theory
Applications: Pions, Di-leptons, Kaons, ...
Suggestion for topics to be discussed are very welcome: email to
