The first common Workshop of the Network NA7-Hf-QGP of the European program "STRONG-2020" , and of the Helmholtz Academy of Hesse will be held from October 4 to 8, 2021, in Hersonissos, Crete, Greece.

The STRONG-2020 project brings together many of the leading research groups and infrastructures involved today in the study of the strong interaction in Europe, and also exploits the innovation potential in applied research through the development of detector systems with applications beyond fundamental physics, e.g. for medical imaging and information technology.

The NA7-Hf-QGP Network is common network of theorists and experimentalists to address all topics which are of relevance for the physics of heavy quarks in pp, pA and AA collisions. The NeD Topics include:

To address these questions 21 theory groups have joined the network which is a continuation of the networks TORIC and TURIC which have been financed by former EU projects. Traditionally the workshops of these former networks addressed the real workers on the projects - the PhD students and the postdocs to present their work while senior scientists give the overview talks and review lectures on the actual subjects. We want to continue with this tradition and have selected an environment (which we know already from our workshop in 2014) where people can meet in a relaxed atmosphere, where spontaneous discussions are possible and which offers the opportunity that PhD students and postdoc from different groups meet informally and get acquainted with each other.

The network will pay for the stay in Crete (on the basis of single occupancy for senior scientists and double occupancy for PhD students and postdocs). We have also some limited funds to pay for the airline tickets for PhD and postdocs if this is necessary.

The venue of the Workshop is the Creta Maris Beach Resort located in Hersonissos near Heraklion. We expect that the participants arrive on October 3 and leave on October 9, 2021.

Deadline for the registration and the hotel reservation is September 3rd, 2021.

If you want to participate please register by filling the registration form and sending it by email to NA7crete2021@gmail.com.
