Scope of the meeting
The aim of the workshop is to assemble experts from both astrophysics and nuclear physics to discuss the physics of neutron star mergers:
- Observations of gravitational waves and electromagnetic signals
- Simulations of compact object mergers and their neutrino-driven winds
- Chemical evolution and nucleosynthesis
- Nuclear physics of the r-process: masses, lifetimes, fission
- Neutron stars from crust to core and equation of state
- Neutrino-matter interactions and oscillation phenomena
Organizational information
The number of participants is limited to about 70. Sessions will take place from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 a.m. and from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. The program will consist of invited talks and selected contributions.
We charge a workshop fee of 130 €.
The workshop takes place at the Darmstädter Haus (formerly "Waldemar-Petersen-Haus"). Please note important travel information. Current weather conditions can be viewed at the webcam of Hotel Birkenhöhe.
